Cowessess First Nation Traditional Pow Wow 2023 A Huge Success

Tansi/Aniin sikwa Relatives and Kin,

On behalf of Chief & Council, we would like to express our gratitude to our Pow Wow committee, kihtehayahk, veterans, security, nurses & first responders, staff, volunteers, and especially to all the dancers, singers, and spectators that made this year’s Pow Wow a resounding success!

We are so proud of the commitment and energy involved in each person that brought this year’s Pow Wow together. We know the challenges, frustrations, effort, and energy it takes to host a Pow Wow, and this year’s success is all due to your perseverance.

We hosted over 400 dancers, numerous top-quality drum groups, thousands of spectators, and tens of thousands of viewers online. Over the three days, the Pow Wow committee received many compliments from dancers, singers, and spectators on the cleanliness, safety, and overall friendliness and helpful spirit of our volunteers and staff. This is what hosting a Pow Wow is all about! Our Pow Wow committee set the bar high for traditional pow wows and we look forward hosting another year.

We would like to thank Glenn Pelletier as our out-going Pow Wow President. Your wisdom, guidance, and passion for pow wow has been invaluable and has brought us to this success. We congratulate George Delorme on accepting the Staff and stepping up as the new CFN Traditional Pow Wow President. With the committee behind you, community, and staff support, as well as support from your leadership, we are confident you will produce another successful pow wow!

We would like to thank our out-going royalty Princess Mimikwâs Âcikahtê, and Warrior Tevon Grey. We see the work you both put in representing our Nation at many events across Turtle Island. We welcome our new Princess Sasha Delorme-Meeches, and Warrior Keystin Delorme. We excited to have each of you representing our Nation for the next year and look forward to supporting you in your efforts!

We were also able to honour our youth NAIG athletes and C.C.E.C. 2023 graduates. Seeing the pride in your eyes and being with you during these special moments, honouring your outstanding achievements, makes me incredibly hopeful and excited for your future. We are always here for you, supporting you, and cheering you on!

We honoured our past leadership for their guidance and wisdom to get us where we are now. We acknowledge and respect your good work in laying the foundations for us, current leadership, to build upon. Without your dedication and hard work, we would yet have much further to go.

Cowessess Membership, be proud of the pow wow and week of events we hosted! Without the kind, welcoming spirit we all have, we would not be able to do this to such resounding success! Today, my heart beams with gratitude and love for our Nation! We truly are COWESSESS STRONG!
