Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge is rebuilding its Board and we’re looking for strong voice to help guide our work in child and family wellbeing.

We welcome applicants with experience in:

  • child and family services;
  • community/human services;
  • lived or family experience;
  • governance, law, HR, finance; and
  • Cowessess culture and ceremony.

We are seeking a mix of lived experience, cultural knowledge, and professional expertise.

Elders, youth, on-and-off reserve members and those with lived experience are encouraged to apply.

9 MEMBERS

Cultural Experts

  • 1 Council Member will always have a seat
  • 2-year term, with option to renew up to 2 times.
  • Non-voting advisory members may be added for special knowledge or support.

Cultural experts:

  • Elders/Knowledge Keepers;

Service experts with experience in:

  • Child and family services;
  • Young adult with involvement or lived experience in the system;
  • Health or medicine;
  • Facility management/capital projects;
  • Prevention; and
  • Corporate leadership.

Field Experts

  • Human Resources/Communications
  • Finance
  • Law/Legal Expertise
  • Governance

Qualifications

Eligibility

  • Experience and awareness of Cowessess Culture.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Remain in good standing with both Cowessess First Nation and Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge, with no outstanding debts or legal issues.
  • Follow the values and laws as laid out in the Miyo Pimatisowin Act.
  • Individuals are not eligible if they:
are a current Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge employee;
have any convictions related to violence, abuse, or intentional harm to a person or animal; and
are bankrupt or under court restrictions.

SELECTION

Selected applications will be reviewed by external experts using a board competency metrist.

Selected candidates will be interviewed in March, with the final screening recommendations made by March 28, 2026.

Applicants must be in good standing with Cowessess First Nation and Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge.

  • With no outstanding debts or legal issues.
  • Social media and global reference checks will form part of the screening.
  • Proof of education may be required upon request.
