Lice
Signs & Symptoms:
- Itchy scalp or skin
- Red bumps or sores
- Visible nits (tiny white eggs) near the hair roots
How They Spread:
- Close person-to-person contact
- Sharing combs, hats, or bedding
Prevention & Treatment:
- Avoid sharing personal items
- Use medicated shampoo (pediculicide)
- Wash bedding and clothing in hot water
- Comb hair with a fine-tooth comb

Bed Bugs
What Are They?
Small, flat, reddish-brown insects that feed on human blood while you sleep.
Signs & Symptoms:
- Small itchy bites in a line or cluster
- Blood spots or dark fecal stains on sheets or mattress seams
- Shed skins or live bugs around bed creases
How They Spread:
- New/used furniture, or clothing
- Moving between rooms or apartments
- Hitchhiking on clothes, people or luggage
Prevention & Control:
- Inspect hotel beds or used furniture before bringing them home
- Wash and dry bedding on high heat
- Vacuum and seal cracks
- If infestation is severe, contact pest control

Cockroaches
What Are They?
Hard-shelled insects that thrive in warm, dark, moist places like kitchens and bathrooms.
Why They’re a Concern:
- Can spread bacteria and allergens
- Trigger asthma or allergies
Signs of Infestation:
- Droppings (small black specks)
- Musty odor
- Shed skins or egg cases
How They Spread:
- New/used furniture, or clothing
- Moving between rooms or apartments
- Hitchhiking on clothes, people or luggage
Prevention & Control:
- Keep food sealed and kitchen clean
- Fix leaks and remove standing water
- Use traps or bait
- Contact pest control if needed
