Return to the Falls, a docudrama, centers on the poignant life of Betty Ross, focusing primarily on her harrowing experiences at St. Joseph’s Residential School in Cross Lake, Manitoba.

This 60-minute presentation goes beyond mere recounting of events, delving deeply into how the teachings from Betty’s father provided her with the strength and resilience needed to endure and survive the traumas inflicted by the residential school system.

The docudrama vividly depicts various aspects of life within the residential school, capturing the essence of Betty’s struggle and survival. Additionally, it touches upon the broader historical context with coverage of the 60s Scoop, further enriching the narrative and providing a comprehensive portrayal of the era’s impact on Indigenous lives.

The docudrama serves as a powerful testament to Betty Ross’s enduring spirit and the profound influence of familial bonds in the face of adversity.

Cowessess Community Educational Centre (CCEC) is honoured to host Elder Betty Ross and guests for the premiere of Return to the Falls.

We are inviting Elders, Cowessess community members, employees and neighbouring high school students and staff to this event.
